Hi Stephanie,

It's sometimes so hard to know which lens and how it will work out for IR. I have two lenses that Kolari Has on their
"Not Good" side of things the Sony 10-18mm F/5 and the Kit Lens Sony 16-50mm 3.5-5.5 and both of them have have
proven to me to be great IR lenses.

here's there thoughts on the lens you mentioned. Sony E 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS SEL1855 * (mild hotspot starting at F7, mostly at 18mm)

I found this info on DyXum,com

Sony 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS hot spot @18mm; hot spot gone @>20 , Thanks Micholand

Sony 18-55 F/3.5-5.6 did not show any hot spots in my pictures.

I have SEL10-18mm and had 18-55mm, never had any hotspot problems with either lens.

Looks like it might be a good performer especially for the money !!!

Good Luck and Let Us know how things turn out Please !!!

Take Care,

Craig

Thanks Craig, I had found that article also. Didn’t realize how much research it takes to shoot Ir! Currently looking at 18-135 Sony. We should have our own list here of cameras and lenses.

I agree with Craig. I use the 18-55 quite often and I've never experienced a problem that couldn't be solved.
